Lavishing in Lavender

Alright yall, this pandemic is still pandemic-ing…honestly I’m trying to find every and any way to cope. I’ve seen this trend where people put Eucalyptus in their shower. Apparently, it is supposed to blah Blah BLAH. I figure let me give it a shot and see what happens. I went to Trader Joe’s bought the eucalyptus, put it in my shower, and it did…

Nothing! Nada! Zip!

I’ve been hoodwinked, bamboozled, led astray and I’m giving everyone who even suggested it a serious side-eye. I didn’t even get the blah Blah BLAH. Now let me say this….if you used it and it worked for you, I am legit happy. I just want to be honest and say that I did not have that experience at all. Before you ask….yes I rolled it gently and lightly beat to release the fragrance. However, once in the shower there was nothing.

Despite this big fail, I was determined to have a unique shower experience. I saw online somewhere that people also put lavender in their shower. If eucalyptus got a chance, it’s only fair to give lavender one. I went back to good ole Trader Joe’s and bought some lavender. The price was $3.99! I was low-key surprised that it was the same price as eucalyptus, but hey all good. No complaints!

Sunshine, let me tell you all about it! The fragrance! The Fragrance! THE FRAGRANCE! The smell was amazing. I couldn’t believe it. Mind you, I was still in the store. I had not even gone home yet or put it in my shower. I was such a believer that I went back and grabbed an extra bunch for my bestie.

Still hopeful for the sad eucalyptus in my shower I added the lavender to it.

That 1st shower was truly something. No description can even begin to give it justice. It was everything I wanted.

It put to shame anything that even dared to have a lavender fragrance or scent.T his included my scrubs, body wash, conditioners, shampoos…you name it. Nothing and I mean nothing even comes close. Go ahead and add whatever essential oil, candle, or air freshener you use.

Besides using it in the shower…lavender does have other benefits. Several of them can be found below:

  • Alopecia
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Insomnia
  • Restlessness
  • Vomiting
  • Nausea
  • Upset Stomach
  • Intestinal Gas
  • Abdominal Swelling
  • Acne
  • Eczema
  • Skin Inflammation
  • Acute Pain
  • Chronic Pain
  • Minor Burns
  • Bug Bites

More than a color it seems lavender does a lot. BUT WAIT, THERE’S MORE! People use it in teas and food as well. Can you say winning?!

Now that you know what it can do let me tell you what it is exactly. Lavender is a herb that is part of the mint family. It is native to various parts of the world. Europe, Africa, and Asia are just a few places that lavender calls home. If you are into the sciences like me you will be happy to know that there are 3 commonly used species; English, French, and woolly.

Few things you may want to know….It is extremely easy to work with and use. It can get messy. Sooner or later you will start to see tiny pieces of it in your tub or the floor depending where you placed it. Lastly, as the stems dry out they can be a little prickly so be mindful.
