Bridge Over Boring Waters

What You Need:

  • Water
  • Lemon
  • Lime
  • Mint
  • Cucumber
  • Knife

What You Do:

  • Rinse lemon, lime, cucumber, and mint
  • Slice lemon, lime, and cucumber
  • Remove mint leaves from stem (optional)
  • Place slices of lemon, lime, cucumber, and mint in water

I’m not sure when it happened, but Sunshine, I looked up one day and realized that I hadn’t been drinking water. What was supposed to be a 2 week shelter in place has easily turned into 2 months. I initially thought I would treat the shelter in place as a mini holiday, a vacation of sorts. Now that this is our “new normal”, I’ve decided to try and regain a bit of my wellness journey. I feel the best way to start, is to drink more water. I find water to be pretty boring. I’m able to increase my intake if I add a bit of “razzle dazzle” to it. Here comes the lemon, lime, mint, and cucumber. When I add them to my water I drink significantly more than if my water was plain.

Know this though, the body is made up of a little more than 60% of water. Now how much water one should drink really depends on the individual. The general consensus is to drink eight 8 ounces of water a day or half a gallon. Don’t worry if this seems tough to remember or a bit intimidating. Since water is vital to survival, your body has a trick in place to make sure it gets what it needs. THIRST! That’s right if you are thirsty, that’s your body’s way of telling you it needs water, and to drink.

  • May Improve Diet
  • Enhances Skin Quality
  • Encourages Weight Loss
  • Enhances Immune System
  • Contains Anti-inflammatory Properties

Benefits of Cucumber in Water:

  • Encourages Hydration
  • Encourages Weight Loss
  • Transports Antioxidants
  • Enhance Skin Quality
  • Freshens Breath

Personally, I prefer using the ingredients mentioned above, because of the benefits I listed. There are so many variations. Some people use ginger, rosemary, cinnamon, pineapple, oranges, and etc. There isn’t really a right way or wrong way to make infused or spa water. Take what you like and add it in.
