Now if you are like me and on Social Media often you’ve def come across several viral videos. Round of applause for this awesome man of God…Kev on Stage. His videos are comic relief for those of us who are black and Christian. We don’t get many forms of entertainment that we can feel good about and not feel bad for enjoying. Kev however, always comes through with the humor. Doboy, I must admit I wasn’t too familiar with but he didn’t disappoint.
The SOLD OUT (I see you Kev and Doboy come ALL the way through) show I attended on a Monday was at Helium Comedy Club. A little about Helium before I talk about the show. I can appreciate the garage a few doors down as most places in the city make it almost impossible to have pleasant parking experience. Once inside they have a 2 item minimum and the prices are typical. It is cozy seating so you will get to know your neighbors well if you know what I mean. Not much arm or leg room.
The show started with Doboy. He did a set and honestly I liked him. I thought he was funny.

Then Kev comes out and he does a set. I laughed and Laughed and LAUGHED. If you grew up in the church, you would appreciate his comedy. It resonates in a way that almost makes you homesick, but at the same time you feel like you are with family.

Next was the Q&A session. They took questions and comments from the audience on top 5 black movies, Tyler Perry, Pastor Wilson, Basketball, Groupon dates and etc. I found it both refreshing and hilarious to see men talk freely. I very much enjoyed the black man joy. I’ve never been to a barbershop and just listened to black men talk, but I imagine it would be a bit like that. They have a podcast Righteous and Ratchet if you wanna get a sense of how the Q&A went.

Last Kev took words from the audience and gave a message. Brothers and Sisters in the faith HE allowed God to use him in a mighty way. It was encouraging, but it was also funny.
All in all, I give Righteous and Ratchet 2 snaps and twirl. If they are coming to your city soon….GET TICKETS
